The Big Switch: from TAS to Sage 50

Although Sage 50 and Tas are owned by the Sage group, the flagship product and the one which is the focus of development is Sage 50.  The main areas where Sage 50 has more functionality is :

  • Stock control;
  • Price lists;
  • Foreign currency accounting;
  • Reporting – both the quantity of reports and the ability to design customised reports;
  • Project accounting;
  • Departmental budgeting;
  • Excel links;
  • Remote usage and Sales Apps

As a result of the popularity of Sage 50 many add-on tools have been developed for this product, for example, Direct Debit and Multi-location stock recording as well as many front office systems for specific sectors which integrate with Sage 50.

We have noticed more companies switching their accounting software from Tas to Sage 50 and this switchover can be facilitated by Data Transfer. Master records for customers, suppliers and stock can be imported relatively easily. Opening balances comprising outstanding invoices can also be imported into Sage 50 but this is a more difficult task as the data isn’t easily extracted from Tas. We are experienced in migrating data from various software systems into Sage 50 and can advise on what to migrate and any amendments which could be done eg, customer code changes .

The latest version of Sage 50 is more streamlined and easier to use than ever before. Previous Tas users will quickly become familiar with the product and benefit from the enhanced functionality.
